US national CX final

US nationals KC
Johnson Wins!

a very happy johnson

a muddy johnson getting someone else dirty

nasty wicks looking pretty nasty

schouten put in a absolute stellar race today

trebon down and out early in the race

leaving page and johnson to battle at the front. a small error with 1 1/2 to go by jonathan cost him the race.

start of the elite women

conditions were much different today

compton charging along in the lead to another win

yesterday was bitter. frozen trenches making navigation nearly impossible.

a last row start didn't help my chances in the frigid air

most bikes and bodies were fully coated with a nice layer of ice.

a cold walk back to the car marking the end to another domestic racing season for US cross.

one last bike wash before pack and ship.

the storm that hit yesterday moved quickly to the east covering the metro airport forcing us to stay another night. our flight was cancelled. stuck in KC. not too bad of a place to be. can't wait for next year.

US national CX day # 1

high 30's sunny

some turn

wow looks like there might be a line on this turn.

nice off camber turn

i don't think i ever saw a dry spot on the course today. we had all day to check out the course to see what was in store for the weekend. jeff and i did a couple laps so i could see the good lines. i was pretty excited when i first got there. i was red lined in the first 10 min just checking out the course. after a while it got better. more leg air out tomorrow with less mud covering.

what i woke up to

oh yeah....and todays race, Michigan state CX championship in waterford.

preparing for the obstacle....

....and the finish to the obstacle.

yikes. pretty damn fun out there today.
i feel some what obligated to type my thoughts and share my thanks for a season ending. i'm not really into doing words so much anymore, because of the over opinionated culture we live in and the fact that some individuals use bloggers as local news forums. i'm not into it. and so to all my friends that i've spent the fall with:

Happy Birthday Robert. Thank you again for a great year of cyclo-cross.

Congratulations Wiz on a fine season and the new prestige of Michigan State Champion.

Pony, i was pretty stoked to see you prove all those lame ass anon people wrong. you are a great racer with a passion.

Ace, a fine season tally. you are a true athlete that excels at all the disciplines. thanks for the motivating words and being a peer.

Scar Face, none more consistant. i wish i could ride with you.

the Sweed, better than last year and getting better. mechanicals aside you know you have it.

DC, shut the fuck up. i love you.

Ashely, where the hell did you come from. nice riding!

Budacki, rippin in killer B's, suffering like a dog in A. thats the way to do it.

Baroli, the Italian, it will be nice to ride all spring and summer with that title from today.

Meils, totally die hard. pushing through everything and never flinching. you are amazing.

Schwartz, 6 time state champ. got to hand it to you that is impressive.

Noftz, for dedicating your time and energy to helping the state have a bad ass kick off to the UCI and for the dedication to cross.

SeeeeeMan, dude we need to do more spring riding with Brian. i'll try to do some cross country skiing this winter.

B Mitchall, what the hell man? you come out and start kicking ass? long time coming man. good luck with jr.

O'day, at it again. rocking another year. we need to get back on the 24hr spring race thing.

Steve Balogh, Andrea Tucker, the Eye of Gatto, Hans Nyberg, Mashers Media, and Tom Kachelmeyer for the best photos out there.

all the nameless people dedicating their time to helping Robert set up the courses and work to help him.

Joe Lekovish the most energetic voice in Michigan cycling. and for commentating.

Dave Massey, if you want i can help you get a new bike for your 08 season. i know you want to make a run at the points series next year. plus you're not bad at commentating and giving people awesome encouraging shit. the best out there.

all the Michigan, Ohio and surrounding bike dealers who support racing and cyclo-cross with specific recognition to Kinetic Systems and Bikeworks of Ohio.

THE MICHIGAN SCENE - for keeping people guessing at your identity and keeping the racing community inspired with juicy material. you rock.

and the fifteen hundred others who contribute to the sport of cyclo-cross. sorry if i didn't mention you or if i don't know you.

see you at nationals.
